Douglas “Doug” Kent Hite, age 71, of Anthony passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019. He was a graduate of Anthony High School in 1965 and later attended Pittsburg State University, studying autobody paint and repair. Doug served as a member of the Army National Guard 1967. Doug was the owner of West Street Auto Body and Fender Repair in Anthony for 45 years.
Brandon Lee stated, “Immortality is to live your life doing good things, and leaving your mark behind”. Anyone who entered a room where Doug was knows without a doubt he left his mark. The legacy left by Doug is carved in the hearts and minds of all those he shared his stories and love with.
Doug was a lifetime fan of music of all varieties, from Hank Snow’s smooth country lyrics to the drum beat performances of “Johnny B. Goode”, Doug would never turn down an opportunity to perform. As a musician who played, drums and guitar, Doug was known throughout Southcentral Kansas for his multiple performances with groups he belonged to, or an occasional guest performance with local groups or even sitting in with the Marine Dixieland band in the Ronald Reagan White House.
Doug was known far and wide for his wonderful stories, and he would frequently be seen joining many friends over a hot cup of coffee and a great story. These stories typically revolved around the many decades of hunting, fishing, and National Guard service with his friends and family throughout the Midwest.
