Fern A. Kircher 1927 ~ 2020

Fern was born August 8, 1927 in Atlanta, Kansas, the 7th of 8 children born to Elliot Newton Stites and Stella (Fry) Stites.  Her family moved several times during her early childhood before settling in Hazelton, Kansas where Fern graduated high school with the Class of 1945.
On April 6, 1946, Fern was united in marriage with Jimmy Swartz in Hazelton, Kansas.  This union was blessed with three children:  Kent, Keela and Vicki.
One of Fern's first jobs was at the telephone company as a switch operator.  She and Jimmy also ran a farming operation together.  When their children were born, Fern stayed home to raise her family and help with the farm.  After the kids were all in school, she worked outside the farm as a church secretary and at the Clothes Horse where she sewed and did alterations.  In 1988, after 42 years of marriage, Jimmy passed away in Hazelton, Kansas.
Fern always had a great faith in her Lord and Savior. No matter where they were living she found a church family and became active in the church. Teaching children, attending Bible studies, and helping anyway that she could.
In 1994, Fern and Don Kircher were married.  They enjoyed life together in Bella Vista, Arkansas before moving to Oklahoma City, OK.
After Don passed away in 1999, Fern moved to Kiowa, Kansas.  In 2011, she relocated to Centennial, Colorado.
Fern loved to sew and garden. She loved to interact with her grandchildren and great grandchildren in a variety of ways, she was always ready to laugh, and many times had a quick-witted reply.
On August 23, 2020, Fern passed away in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 93 years and 15 days.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmy Swartz and Don Kircher; her parents, Elliot and Stella Stites; and siblings:  Beatrice Moore, Gay Anderson, Darby Stites, Floyd Stites, Lowell Stites, and Dixie Anderson.
