On December 22, 2018, Laurel Donnis McClellan, loving husband and father of four children, passed away after a short battle with cancer at the age of 70, surrounded by his family.
Laurel was born June 30, 1948 in Logan, Kansas to Fred and Nola McClellan. After graduating from high school he attended Kansas Wesleyan University graduating Cum Laude before receiving his Jurist Doctorate with honors from The National Law Center at The George Washington University. After working a short time in Washington D.C. for several Senators and the Interstate Commerce Commission he returned to Kansas where he met his beloved wife, Linda. Laurel continued to practice his love of law for 45 years.
Laurel served his communities as a member of many civic organizations as well as being a member of the Freemason's, Scottish Rite and Midian Shrine. He had a passion for woodworking, making many special items for family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit and compassion for anyone in need.
Laurel was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nola, and sister, Janice Calvert.
Laurel will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda; children, Laurel McClellan II, Tiffany Rinke and fiancé, Ron Zoeller, Ashley McClellan, Curtis McClellan and fiancé, Jacque Kloefkorn (the one with a bun in the oven); two sisters: Joyce Schmidt and husband, Leroy, and Janene Schneider; six grandchildren: Janessa Rinke, Brian Zoeller, Rhody, Rowdy and Mazey McClellan, and the bun on the way; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Anthony.
Friends may register 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Research Institute and sent in care of the funeral home.
