Marilyn Marie Ritter was born January 29, 1943 in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of Fredrick Eugene and Finette Marie (Francis) Ritter. She grew up on a farm west of Anthony, graduating from Anthony High School with the class of 1962.
After graduating she moved to Dodge City, Kansas where she worked at the Soldier's Home. After some health issues, she moved back to Anthony to be near her family. She helped on her parents' farm in the summer during harvest and also worked at the Laundromat. Later in her life, she worked as a cook at the nursing home in Anthony.
In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed painting, adult coloring and embroidery. She would embroidery lap quilts and would send them to her sister, Kay to quilt together. Many of their finished quilts were sold. A vast majority of her paintings are being treasured by her sister, Pat.
In December of 2014, Marilyn moved into the Anthony Community Care Center. She truly adored the staff and residents at her new home. She stayed busy partaking in all the activities the nursing home offered, bingo and trips to Wal-Mart and the zoo being her favorites.
On June 16, 2019, Marilyn passed away at the Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 76 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Charles and Glendale.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her sisters: Patricia Hall and Willina Kay McCullough and husband, Gallan; several nieces and nephews; her Anthony Community Care Center family; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
