Patty Gerdes 1958 ~ 2019

          Patricia A. "Patty" Gerdes was born February 10, 1958 in Fort Worth, Texas, daughter of Ramon W. and Dorothy N. (Earnest) Garancosky.  Her family moved to Anthony, Kansas where she graduated from Chaparral High School in 1976.  She furthered her education graduating from Hutchinson Community College. 

          On November 7, 1987, Patty married the love of her life, Paul Gerdes.  They made their home in Wichita, Kansas where Patty worked as a customer service rep for McKesson Medical Supply until retiring. 

          In 2004, Patty and Paul moved to Anthony, where Paul had accepted a job with the Anthony Hospital.

          Patty also loved her many kitties and beautiful old classic cars.  A sweet, good hearted woman, she always enjoyed preparing big family dinners, being a caregiver for her mother and her uncle Mike, and of course always liked a good joke.

          On August 26, 2019, Patty passed away at Patterson Health Center in Harper County, Kansas at the age of 61 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jenny Newman; and nephew, Danny Garancosky.

          Patty will be deeply missed by her husband, Paul; siblings: Mike Garancosky and wife, Thuan, Tim Garancosky and wife, Christine, Steve Garancosky and wife, Kandy, and Debby Holst and husband, Barry; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

          Funeral service was held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Pastor Ed Hughlett officiating.  Musical selections played were "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" and "Dust in the Wind."  The song "Happy" was played as family and friends were dismissed.

          Burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Danville, Kansas.  Casket bearers were Tim Garancosky, Steve Garancosky, Tanner Newman, Trevor Newman, Trey Newman and Jay Gerdes.

          Memorials in memory of Patty may be made to the American Red Cross and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

          Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003, was in charge of arrangements.
