Priscilla S. Shellhammer 1944 ~ 2019

Priscilla Suzanne Shellhammer was born January 4, 1944 in Anthony, Kansas, the oldest daughter born to Everett and Helen (Schmidt) Norman.  She had one younger sister, Patricia.  Priscilla spent most of her childhood on the family farm west of Anthony, before her parents moved her family to town. She graduated from Anthony High School with the Class of 1961.

On August 18, 1967, Priscilla was united in marriage with John Shellhammer at the Church of Christ in Anthony, Kansas.  They moved a few times while John served in the Air Force, before returning to Anthony.

Priscilla's love of the farm stayed with her throughout her life.  She and John built a home on the Norman homestead where they raised their two children, Gary and Gina.  Together she and John continued the family farming operation.  Priscilla had a vast love for all animals.  From the time she was a little girl horses were her favorite.  She began riding at a young age and continued throughout her life until her health no longer permitted her to.

Priscilla was a devout Christian and a woman of great Faith.  She was raised in the Church of Christ, but most recently had found fellowship with the wonderful minister and congregation of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

On November 16, 2019, Priscilla passed away surrounded by her loving family.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Priscilla was a very loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed by her husband, John; her son, Gary and wife, Cindy; her daughter, Gina Dearborn and husband, Jeff; grandchildren:  Danielle Swartsfager, and Cody Shellhammer and wife, Haylee; two great-grandchildren: Luke and Emily Shellhammer; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service was held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Pastor Ken Davidson officiating.  Pastor Ken sang "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) and "It Is Well, With My Soul."  Musical selections "See You Again" by Carrie Underwood and "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" by Willie Nelson were played.

Burial followed in Spring Grove Cemetery, west of Anthony.  Casket bearers were Jeff Dearborn, Cody Shellhammer, Joe Shellhammer, Mike Shellhammer, Jimmy Vardy and Rob DeWeese.
