Randall R. Baird 1960 ~ 2020

    Randall Ray Baird was born November 2, 1960 in Anthony, Kansas, son of Richard Baird and Noretta M. (Starkey) Baird.  He attended school in Anthony, Kansas before moving to Cherokee, Oklahoma where he graduated high school with the Class of 1978.
     Randy joined the United States Army, completing basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  During his active duty he was awarded with the Rifle M-16 Sharpshooter and the Hand Grenade Expert badges.  After his honorable release from active duty he transferred to the Army Reserves.
    Randy married Shelly Melton and became a stepfather to Christi, Jamie, and Ben.  Although the marriage ended, Randy always tried to keep in touch with the kids.
    On November 16, 2007, Randy was united in marriage with Zenaida "Ida" Azulis in Copenhagen, Denmark.  This union blessed Randy with a stepson, Denee Abella.  They lived in Denmark before returning to the States, living in Long Beach, New York.  Together Randy and Ida loved traveling.  Randy really enjoyed their many trips to the Philippines to visit Ida's family.  Randy later returned to his hometown of Anthony.  
    Randy worked as an automotive tech at Walmart for many years.  In his earlier years, he worked for the Wakita and Garber Co-ops.  
    Randy had a unique sense of humor.  He loved music and had an extensive knowledge of trivial facts and statistics.  He enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles.  
    On October 8, 2020, Randy passed away unexpectedly at his home in Anthony, Kansas at the age of 59.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Noretta Walborn; his father, Richard Baird; and grandparents: Gib and Wilma Starkey and Fred and Carol Baird.
    Randy will be deeply missed by his wife, Ida; stepson, Denee Abella; his sisters: Pamala Hanna (Carl), Joni Baird, and Julie Walborn; stepfather, John Walborn (Pat); stepsisters:  Karen Davis and Sharon Kimball; aunts: Marilynn Nichols and Deanie Schiff; cousins, Tammy King and Breck Schiff; several nieces and nephews; many other cousins; and many friends.  
    Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.  
    Memorials in memory of Randy may be made to Mirror of Newton, Kansas, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
