Haynes Larry Eslinger, Sr. 1937 - 2022


Haynes Larry Eslinger Sr. was born December 20, 1937 in Anthony, Kansas, the only child born to Haynes W. and Alice F. (Ravenscroft) Eslinger. He graduated from Garden City (KS) High School, where he played varsity football.

After high school, he honorably served in the Marines for three years, including a tour of Okinawa, Japan with a unit from San Francisco.

Larry married Codye McDaniel on September 10th, 1961. They made their home in Wichita. He worked in plastics production at Pawnee Plastics in Wichita (19 years as a foreman) and Spartech Plastics in McPherson, KS for just over a year. After retiring, he and Codye moved to Anthony in 1997, where they would spend the rest of their marriage together.

Larry loved spending time with family and friends, as well as his dogs and cats. He was a bowler and slow pitch softball player on his company's team. An avid sports fan he attended many games and especially loved traveling to watch his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Larry passed away on October 31, 2022 at the Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Codye and his parents, Haynes W. Eslinger and Alice F. Eslinger Yarbrough.

Larry will be deeply missed by his children: Larry Eslinger Jr., Kelly Eslinger and wife, Barbara, and Sherry Roniger and husband, Tracy; four grandchildren: Holly, Emma, Hunter, and Miley Roniger; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Musical selections “Precious Memories” and “Peace in the Valley” recorded by Jim Reeves were played.

Military graveside service by the US Marine Corps Honor Guard followed in Burchfiel Cemetery, south of Anthony. Casket bearers were Larry Eslinger Jr., Kelly Eslinger, Tracy Roniger, Hunter Roniger, Holly Roniger, Emma Roniger, and Miley Roniger.

Memorials in memory of Larry may be made to K9s for Warriors or the Kansas Humane Society and may be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
