Patsy L. (Bear) Olivier 1932~2021

Patsy Lou (Bear) Olivier was the only child of Henry “Hank” and Lulu (Garber) Bear, born August 30, 1932. She grew up in Harper, Kansas where she attended school and graduated from Harper High School with the class of 1950.

Meeting the love of her life, Francis “Frankie” Olivier, the couple were married on September 8, 1954 in Danville, Kansas. They were married for nearly 35 years before Frankie’s untimely passing.

Living on a farm near Danville, Patsy and Frankie farmed and raised livestock. This union was blessed with three sons: Marc, Mike, and Max. Patsy was a farm wife, working alongside Frankie and the boys. She particularly enjoyed driving the wheat truck during harvest, all the while having to listen to her young sons trying to tell her how to drive.

In 1991, Patsy moved to Harper and then into Heritage Estates, where she lived for many years. She moved in 2019 to the Anthony Community Care Center. Even with her cantankerous spirit at times, Patsy put smiles on the faces of her caretakers and made many new friends along the way. At the age of 88, she passed away at ACCC on July 14, 2021 with her sons by her side.

Patsy was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Danville, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community, as well as the church Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, singing, and playing piano. Puppies, kittens, and babies always brought a smile to her face. Patsy’s favorite pastime was shopping. She loved shiny trinkets of all kinds – from music boxes to sparkling jewelry. Over time, she amassed quite a collection of knickknacks and was especially fond her angel figurines. She also loved her purple team, the Kansas State Wildcats. Watching K-State football games after her son, Mike passed away seemed to give her peace, because she knew she and Mike were watching their team together.

Preceding Patsy in death were her parents, Hank and Lulu Bear; husband, Frankie; and son, Mike. She is survived by her sons, Marc Olivier and his wife, Darla of Danville and Max Olivier of Wichita, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Ronna Olivier of Manhattan, Kansas; grandchildren: Nathan Olivier (Carrie Lane), Robin Franco (Jose'), Rachel Watkins (Grant), Dakota Olivier, Jarrod Zavala, and Casey Olivier (Charity Warren); great-grandchildren: Ethan and Emma Watkins, Michael and Angelica Franco, Elora Lane Olivier, and Emmerson Olivier; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service was 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery, Danville with Father Bob Pinninti officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Anthony Community Care Center and can be sent in care of the funeral home. Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, 613 W 14th St ~ Harper, Kansas 67058
