Sue Carol Connelly was born May 18, 1937, in Anthony, Kansas, daughter of Kenneth Wright and Lenora Fern (Cotterill) Hunter. She attended school in Anthony and Hazelton, Kansas.
On March 26, 1956, Sue was united in marriage with Robert E. Connelly at the First Baptist Church in Anthony. This union was blessed with one son, John. The family made their home in Anthony, Kansas, where Sue was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church.
Sue attended cosmetology school, working as a hairdresser for many years. She became well known in Anthony as the Avon lady and the taxi driver.
An avid collector of Longaberger baskets, beanie babies, sports cards, and Hull pottery, she kept meticulous records of her collections, many of which were proudly displayed in the Connelly home. A huge K-State fan, she looked forward to her visits to the beauty parlor and was proud to show her support to K-State with her patch of purple dye on the front of her hair.
On June 25, 2022, Sue passed away at Anthony Community Care Center at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob on October 18, 2020, and her parents.
Sue will be deeply missed by her son, John Connelly and wife, Nancy; her sister, Linda Beymer-Hunter; nephew, Richard Vanhorn; her First Baptist Church family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony with Pastor Warren Stanton officiating. Musical selection “In My Life/If We Never Meet Again” by Selah was played.
