Teri Lynn Bonham was born April 7, 1960 in Wichita, Kansas, daughter of Troy R. and Phyllis (Puckett) Barton. She grew up in Andover and graduated from Andover High School in 1978.
On August 25, 1979, Teri was united in marriage with Donald Kevin Bonham in Wichita, Kansas. Together they raised three children: Jennifer Lee, Donald Joel, and Nellie Lemae. They made their home in Wichita where Teri loved running a daycare out of her home. In 1996, they moved to Freeport, Kansas.
In 2009, Teri moved to Parsons, Kansas where she worked as a special ed para for Tri-County School District until 2012 when she returned to Freeport.
Teri was a member of the Freeport Presbyterian Church. She had a great faith and throughout her life she relied on it to keep going. In 2003, she lost Donald to a hunting accident, in 2012 she suffered a stroke which continued to make challenges for throughout the rest of her life. In 2013 she lost Nellie, and in 2019 her home in Freeport burned and she and DJ moved to Harper. She was a very strong woman who always pushed forward no matter what.
Teri loved being outdoors - swimming, sunbathing, and mowing in her bikini. She was an avid gardener and a good cook. She also liked cuddling up to read a good horror book or watch a horror movie.
On September 16, 2022, Teri passed away peacefully at her home in Harper at the age of 62 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; her daughter, Nellie; and one brother, Troy Barton.
Teri will be deeply missed by her son, DJ Bonham and his son, Kevin Bonham; her daughter, Jennifer Anderson and husband, Robert, and their daughters, Adrianna Anderson and Peyton Anderson; one great-granddaughter, Ariah Hinds; siblings: Curtis Barton and Deb Barton; her lifelong best friend, Kim Peterson; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial service will be held October 8, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper.Memorials in memory of Teri may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 613 W 14th St, Harper, KS 67058.
