Charlotte Carrol Diel was born on July 13, 1934 at the family farm house west of Burlington, Oklahoma. She was the eldest daughter of Earl and Dora (Kraft) Diel. Shorty, as she was affectionately known was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She attended 12 years of school in Burlington, OK where she played tennis and basketball and attended Girls State. Shorty loved working cattle and riding horses. After high school she attended American Business College in Wichita, Kansas where she achieved a junior accounting degree.
On July 4, 1954, she married the love of her life, Cyril John Meyer, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anthony, Kansas. To this union three children were born: Janet, Joe, and Jon. While raising her family in Anthony, Charlotte worked a variety of bookkeeping jobs. Charlotte was known for her great cooking and enjoyed gardening, camping, time with family at the lake, and golfing. She was an active member of the Altar Society and often volunteered at the church.
On April 11, 2025, Charlotte passed away at St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of almost 52 years, Cyril Meyer; son, Joe Meyer; sister, Joyce Warfield; husband, Hollis Mardis; son-in-law, Wendell Hacker; and grandson, Brad Reeves.
Charlotte will be deeply missed be her daughter, Janet Hacker of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter-in-law, Colleen Meyer of Owasso, OK; son, Jon Meyer and his wife, Goldie of Afton, OK; sister, Connie and husband, Larry Starks of Manchester, OK; seven grandchildren: Stacy and husband, Keith Udcoff, Chad Hacker and wife, Denee, Caitlin and husband, Lee Johnson, Christen and husband, Andrew Webb, Craig Meyer and wife, Krista, and Bryan Reeves; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.
Recitation of Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025 and Mass of Christian will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Anthony, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Altar Guild or the Sacred Heart Church and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
