Donna R. Ryan

Donna Ruth Ryan passed away on May 23, 2025 in Oakley, Kansas at the age of 93.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brothers, husband Douglas, and sons William D. Ryan and David E. Ryan.

Donna is survived by her children: son Michael Ryan and his wife Meredith of Valley Center, Kansas, daughter Janet Bean and her husband Murray of Oakley, and daughter-in-law Laura Ryan of Imperial Beach, California; seven grandchildren: Shawn (Dan) Thompson, Doug (Tami) Bean, Angela (Matt) Cox, Jaclyn (Jason) L`Ecuyer, Jason Dean Ryan, Jessie (Morgan) Smith, and Jennie (Dan) Ryan; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren with one on the way; other relatives and friends.

Donna was born on January 21, 1932 in Glendale, California to Paul and Ella May (Chenault) Dungan.

Donna married Douglas D. Ryan on August 12, 1950 in California.  The couple welcomed four children into their family.

Donna was an active and dedicated member of the United Methodist Church in Argonia, Kansas.  She and her husband were active for many years in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  Donna especially enjoyed volunteering at the grade school, helping the students overcome learning challenges.  She also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and was a driver for the Provide A Ride program.

Donna was a post office employee from 1977 to 1997, becoming the Argonia Postmaster in 1983.

Funeral Service was 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the Argonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Joy Lenz officiating.  Burial followed at the Harper Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating.
