Faye Williams

Eleanor F. (Faye) Williams was born on June 2, 1942 to Fenner Ward (Huck) Hamilton and Pearl (Oller) Hamilton in Kansas City, Missouri.

When she was 6 months of age the family moved to Harper County and settled in Anthony, Kansas.

Faye spent all her life from that day forward in Anthony, graduating from Anthony High School in 1960. In school she was active in theatre and music and worked at the Olmstead Drug Store through high school where she met James J. Williams, whom she later married in 1962 in Anthony. Jim was the love of her life.

To this marriage were born three wonderful children: James O. Williams, Steven G. Williams, and Michelle D. Overton.

She loved to sew, paint and listen to music of all kinds. She loved her plants, Yorkies and birds and was often called, “The Bird Lady” for many years.

Faye was on the Anthony City Commission for 8+ years during which she was Mayor of Anthony for 2 years. She served on the Board of Zoning Appeals as well as the Anthony Hospital Board. Faye also had a Reflexology business in her home for many years.

Faye loved life, people and most of all her “Jaybird” as she so fondly called James, who preceded her in death April 22, 2013.

On August 22, 2025, Faye passed away at Patterson Health Center in Anthony, Kansas at the age of 83.  She was preceded in death by her husband James Jay, grandson Estin Wayne Overton in April of 2017 and sister Lois Lee Kostner in January of 2022.

Survivors include her sister, Georgia Ellen Klaver; children: James (Janice) Williams, Steve (Lynn Fox) Williams, and Michelle Overton (late Ronnie Patterson); 9 grandchildren: Jordon (Eric) Schoenecker, Cassidy (Josh) Childs, Ethan Williams, Faith (Nolan) DuLac, Alexis Duncan, Easton McKinley, Sadie Williams, Evan Overton, and MaKayle Overton; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Friends may view and register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony.  

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the Christian Church in Anthony with Pastor Ron Eden officiating.  Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, west of Anthony.  

Memorials in memory of Faye may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Patterson Health Center and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
