Katherine J. (Starks) Westmoland was born June 7, 1950 at the Galloway Hospital in Anthony, Kansas, the first born to Bill G. and Elizabeth “Betty Rae” (Patterson) Starks. She attended kindergarten in Harper and spent the rest of her school years in Anthony with the Class of 1968.
In 1967, she married Paul Cupps. This union was blessed with two daughters: Laura and Barbie.
On June 15, 1985, Katherine was united in marriage with Ronnie E. Westmoland in Wichita, Kansas, where they made their home. Together they grew in their faith and putting God first allowed them to grow in their relationship. She was the most amazing, caring, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly loved without measure or condition.
Katherine was blessed with a truly kind soul. She never met a stranger and showed everyone compassion and care. These traits helped her excel in various careers in sales throughout her life. She loved singing, shopping, cooking, and lifting the spirits of everyone around her.
On September 17, 2025, Katherine passed away at Select Specialty in St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her father; one granddaughter, Sarah Faith; and son-in-law, Tony Brown.
Katherine will be deeply missed by her husband of 40 years, Ron Westmoland; her children: Laura Barkley, Barbie Schmidt, Richard Westmoland, Shane Westmoland, Holly Westmoland, and Ron Westmoland Jr.; her mother, Betty Rae Starks; 18 grandchildren: Jason, Casey, Zachary, Lenae, Leslie, Donovan, Emma, Melissa, Rick, Kaleb, Krystina, Zane, Michael, Beth, Matthew, Eric, Lena, and Darius; an abundance of great-grandchildren; and her three brothers: David Starks, Mich Starks, and Patrick (Litha) Starks.
Friends may view and register from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, KS. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Church of Christ in Anthony with John Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony.
