Cecil “Max” Murrow, 86, passed away on April 24, 2026.
Max’s legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the family he loved so deeply.
Max was born on February 14, 1940, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Cecil and Dorothy Murrow. He grew up alongside his three brothers and three sisters, forming the strong family foundation that would define his life. Max was known for his deep love of family, his kind and helpful manner, and his friendly, easygoing sense of humor.
On July 3, 1959, Max married the love of his life, Mary Louise Murrow (Davison). Together, they began their life in a small apartment in Alva, where Max worked as a carpenter while Mary Lou completed her teaching degree. They were blessed with two children, Linda Louise and Lloyd Max.
Max and Mary Lou later moved to Bluff City, Kansas, where he became the manager of the local grain elevator, a role he held for 25 years. Max was active in his community and later served as Mayor of Bluff City. He later transitioned to his true passion—farming—working the land east of Bluff City for the next 30 years. Even in his later years, Max remained active on the farm, a testament to his strong work ethic and perseverance.
Max was known by nearly everyone in the area—and loved by all who knew him. He earned deep respect for his strong character, personal values, and unwavering commitment. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he was compassionate, empathetic, and nurturing. Through both his words and actions, he instilled lifelong lessons of hard work, dedication, and resilience in those around him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Lou.
Max will be deeply missed by his family, including his daughter, Linda Seipel and husband Ken; his son, Lloyd Murrow and wife Victoria; his grandchildren, Matt Seipel and wife Courtney, Jason Seipel and wife Brianna, Travis Seipel and wife Susannah, Brittany Carlock; and his great-grandchildren, Davison, Parker, Avery, Emmett, Annabelle, Samuel, Kingston, Hudson, and Kennedi.
