Jule Anna “Julie” Oskin, born May 26, 1946 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to William Laird and Jule Anna (Toth) Oskin, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026 west of Anthony, Kansas at the age of 79.
Julie lived a vibrant and full life marked by her adventurous spirit, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family. Known for her many talents and tireless work ethic, she embraced a variety of roles throughout her career. Among them, her most fascinating and cherished job was driving a semi-truck for FedEx. This role allowed her to travel coast to coast, an experience she treasured not only for the open road, but also for the opportunity to visit beloved family members across the country.
Family was at the heart of everything Julie did. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Jason Calvert and his partner, Jenny Aken; daughter, Jena Sawyer and her husband, Rich; grandchildren: Roman Shurley, Mason Shurley (his girlfriend, Jess Kistner), Brenna Shurley, Matthew (his wife, Madison) Calvert, and Jade (fiancé Lance Dunigan) Calvert; step-grandchildren: Rhiannon Gosner and Eric Sawyer; great-grandchildren: Macie, Emma, Hazel, and Hudson Calvert; step great-grandchildren, Felix and Abby Gosner; brother, Joe Oskin; many beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Her devotion to each member of her family was evident in the way she celebrated birthdays and holidays with joy and intention. Julie made it a point to know each grandchild and great-grandchild individually as well as part of the larger family circle.
Julie’s kitchen was often filled with the warm aroma of cookies baking or nut rolls rising – recipes passed down from her mother. Her famous homemade pizza became a staple at family gatherings. These culinary traditions were more than just meals, they were expressions of love that she eagerly shared with those around her.
Beyond the home, Julie found joy in giving back to her community. She loved to volunteer at the Anthony Theatre where she could connect with neighbors and friends while supporting a local treasure.
A woman of profound faith, Julie had a deep devotion to God that guided every aspect of her life. She read scripture daily and participated in bible study with dedication. Her days were filled with praise and worship as she lived boldly in Jesus’ name. Sharing The Word brought her joy, whether through conversation or quiet testimony, and she found peace in knowing she was secure in her salvation.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Jule and William Oskin; sister, Barbara “Jane” Hall; and brothers, Jack and Jim Oskin, whose memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Julie’s legacy lives on through generations she nurtured with love, wisdom, laughter, and faith. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
