Martha E. McDaniel

1949

-

2026

Martha Elaine McDaniel was born on November 18, 1949 in Harper, Kansas, one of six children born to Lawrence Henry and Georgia Viteria (Lechner) Schulte.  The family made their home in Harper and this is where Martha attended school, graduating from Harper High School with the class of 1967.

Martha married Rodney Angle on June 14, 1969 in Anthony, Kansas and they were blessed with two children, Kristie and Jerry.  They later divorced and Martha married Dennis McDaniel on February 13, 1993 and the couple made their home in Harper.

Back in the day, Martha enjoyed bowling with the Friday Night Lassies or putting her 2 cents worth in at the casino, resulting in a favorable return.  She also enjoyed crocheting.  She crocheted The Lord’s Supper panel and treasured it very much!  Martha especially loved cooking for her family during the holidays.  Her specialties were homemade chicken and noodles, deviled eggs, cherry cheesecake, and the Fooey Fudge!!!  At one point she had the patience to teach her favorite (only) son how to cook a turkey.

One of the things Martha enjoyed most was going to the Fair.  She was always happy to be there and never hesitated to lend a hand, even helping unload the 4-H pigs while waiting for their son and grandsons to arrive.  Those memories captured the special person she was: caring, hardworking, and always ready to be there for her family, friends, and co-workers.

Martha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her family.  Her kindness, laughter, memories, and the love she shared will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.  She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

At the age of 76, Martha passed away at her home in Harper on August 16, 2026.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Georgia Schulte, brother, Steven Schulte, and grandchildren, MaKinze Lynn Angle and Tanner Andrew Asper.

Martha is survived by her children: Susie Gariglietti (Randy) of Troy, Montana, Kristie Strickland (Steve VanDolah) of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Jerry Angle (Tiffany) of Anthony; grandchildren: Andrea Holmes, Andrew Ashbacher, Damon Taylor, Michaelayne Strickland (Timmy), Braden Strickland (Madie), Jarrett Angle, and Cason Angle; step-children, Steven McDaniel (Stacy) of North Richland, Texas and Nichole Andreas of Freeport, Illinois; step-grandchildren: Sylvan and Rylee McDaniel, and Saige, Mason, and Gavin Andreas; eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings: Darlyne Bornholdt of Conway Springs, Kansas, Marie Starks (Charles) of Harper, Rodney Schulte (Mary Ann) of Kimberling City, Missouri, and Gina Powell (Jim) of Medford, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
