2026
Michael Andrew Anderson was born June 12, 1963 in Seattle, Washington and it was noted that he “seemed to be a baby with above average intelligence.” He began his life in Idaho with his parents, Myron E. and Veda Marie (Loskot) Anderson, and one sister, Laurie. They moved to Wichita, Kansas and later to Anthony, where Mike graduated from Chaparral High School with the Class of 1982.
Mike was the father of two children: Zachary and Jacklynn. December 27, 2009, Mike and Faith Banister married, combining their families, giving Mike a second daughter, Larissa.
A man of strong work ethic, Mike worked for Harper County Road and Bridge until 1986, when he opened Anderson Welding. He was a master welder extraordinaire and a very industrious worker. Anytime life gave him health challenges his only hope was to be able to put his work boots back on and as it would go. . . he passed away in his work boots, which is exactly what he would have wanted.
As one person told the family, Mike was the most loved asshole in Harper County! If you needed help, he was always there. He was faithful to himself in his values and ethics and knew what was truly important in life. He loved his family, his friends, and his I-pad that he enjoyed playing words with friends on.
You always knew where you stood with Mike. He did not take crap from anybody and his honesty was righteous. He was always ready to give people a hard time and smiled when they dished it right back. He was the master of roasting and toasting! A patriotic man, he acquired a large American flag that he loved flying from his crane for holidays, special times, or to honor someone. The flag was raised in his honor the day after he passed.
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, Mike passed away still in his work clothes and boots after a typical workday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Veda, and his sister, Laurie Whobrey.
Mike will be deeply missed by his wife, Faith Anderson; his children: Zack (Taryne) Anderson, Jacklynn Anderson (Matt), and Larissa (Sambo) Moncivaiz; 8 grandchildren: Brecklyn (Andin), Kemper, Beckett, Eli, Josslynn, Maria, Chet, and Abbie; his mother-in-law, Barbara Banister; brother-in-law, Larry Whobrey; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Wyatt and Tamura Owen; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Celebration of life was held Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Revolution Fellowship Church in Anthony, Kansas with Brandon Gerber officiating. Inurnment followed in the Czechoslovakian Cemetery, west of Caldwell. A Roasty Toasty was held at Sokol Hall following the burial.
Memorials in memory of Mike may be made payable to the Anthony Firefighters Association or the American Diabetes Association and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
