Ronald L. Mardis

Ronald Lee Mardis was born Sept, 18, 1937 in Bluff City, Kansas to LeRoy Oliver and Louise (Chamberlin) Mardis.  

He attended Anthony High School, graduating in the Class of 1956.  He then went to WSU for two years while working for his uncles, Jack and Carl Mardis.  He worked in the aircraft industry for a few years before starting a life long career with KDOT.  He started as a laborer on Nov. 1, 1965 in WaKeeney, covering northwest Kansas and I70.  He later moved back to Bluff City, Kansas when he transferred to Anthony as a sub-supervisor of KDOT Dist. #5.

While in WaKeeney, he met Velda Myers and they were married on Nov. 10, 1979.   

Ron retired in Nov. 1995 and shortly thereafter moved to Medford, OK.  Velda passed away in July 2013.  In 2015, Ron reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Minnie Helms, of Anthony and they enjoyed the last 10 years together traveling and spending time with each other.

Ron passed away Monday, July 20, 2026 in Enid, OK.  Following his wishes,  cremation has taken place and no services will be held.  Inurnment has taken place in Caldwell City Cemetery.   Memorials may be given to Spring View Manor Activity Fund in Conway Springs, KS and sent in care of the mortuary.
